Is it Time to Sell?

  by Danno As the Delta variant of Covid-19 gathers steam, and things like mask mandates are being reinstated and argued about, it's easy for investors to start having March 2020 flashbacks.  Questions like "Should we be getting out?" start getting thrown around... The Great Financial Crisis of '08 was the second 50% tumble in stocks in less than a decade.  After that, investors experienced almost 11 full years without a single 20%+ selloff. Those with the discipline to do nothing made a boatload of money. Then Covid-19 caught fire, and since Jan. 1, 2020 the S&P 500 has experienced... that's right, you guessed it, almost 41% growth.  This includes the 35% selloff in 5 weeks last February-March, and 102% gain in the 14 1/2 months since then! It's instinctive to hear about this new "surge" in the virus, be tempted to assume we are going to have a Covid Crash 2.0, and try timing the market.
