Culture Matters
by Danno You've heard it before, “Culture is everything”. M aybe you’ve even regurgitated it yourself. Heck, I regurgitated it recently to my best friend. Have you thought about whether or not it holds true for you? Have you thought about culture when making career or business decisions? Does the culture of your company match up with your way of being? Let’s back up and start with a more basic question: What is “culture”? A Miriam-Webster online definition of culture is: ”the set of shared attitudes, values, goals, and practices that characterizes an institution or organization // a corporate culture focused on the bottom line ”. That’s not necessarily to say that every person in the example organization in Webster’s is solely focused on the bottom line , there may be several key characteristics of any given culture.
